Where the peace we seek is hidden

An ancient legend tells that there was a time when the gods deliberated on where to hide the secret of peace and joy..

They did not want men to find her until the moment they knew how to value them..

one of them said: “Let's hide it on the highest mountain”. One of the gods replied: “No, there they would find her too soon and easily”. Another of the gods then suggested, hide it in the thickest of forests; however, The proposal was rejected for the same reason..

After many proposals and rejections of them, the wisest of them said: “Let's hide it in the hearts of men, that will be the last place they look”.

All the gods agreed so they kept it there.

The gods had been very wise. The last place we would look for peace and happiness would be within ourselves..

We would look elsewhere before: in intimate relationships, in our professions, the purchases, the trips, in gurus, in self-help groups and “the grace of God in heaven”.

Y, however, throughout the centuries and in many places around the world, There are many small groups of people who have looked within themselves and discovered what the gods had hidden..

They are known as the esoteric or mystical branches of the different world religions.. (The esoteric term we refer to here does not refer to something exotic or exaggerated.. All these groups, even when they use different words, they come to express the same: that we are sparks of the eternal flame, drops of the divine ocean, manifestations of the absolute motive of being.

But since we don't look inside ourselves, we have little awareness of who we really are.

Once we have learned to be aware of who we really are, we will have found peace and happiness.
